056 - Extrusion - Press Operator

3rd shift

Job Description: Sets up and operates the extrusion press and auxiliary equipment to produce aluminum extrusions by performing the following duties:

• Operates the press.
• Produces all paperwork at the press and billet heaters such as press reports, billet batch reports, cut sheets, inspection reports and billet lengths.
• Checks billet temperature, container temperature and oil level.
• Loads billets.
• Verifies billets are the correct temperatures, in the proper position to be loaded.
• Setting up equipment adjustments.
• Observes automated equipment operation.
• Manually performing operation of press and all support equipment simultaneously while other employees are in close proximity of equipment.
• Change pressure chart.
• Review upcoming orders.
• Ensure proper tooling is in the die box and hot.
• Ensure press is operating in maximum speed while producing quality metal.
• Communicates with the person operating die head concerning operating parameters on each die.
• Maintains professional communication with supervisors and co-workers to insure an efficient and safe work operation.
• Follows instructions on work orders.
• Performs any task assigned by supervisor.
• With the assistance of other personnel, ensure safety lockouts are engaged when required.
• Follows safe work procedures.

Qualifications: Must be able to read and understand job sheets, work instructions, and route tags. Utilize applicable measuring equipment. Demonstrate ability to set up and operate equipment without supervision. Demonstrate ability to complete all applicable paperwork associated with this job title.
